Tips for a memorable experience at Bergen op Zoom!

City palace the Markiezenhof
Immerse yourself in ancient atmospheres. Listed National Heritage Building the Markiezenhof was built in 1485 in honour of Bergen op Zoom’s lords and, later on, its Marquesses. This site also hosts a museum, a chapel and a restaurant.

Prisoner’s Gate
The only medieval city gate in Bergen op Zoom that has survived. This oldest listed building in the city started out as a fortification, but was also used as a prison and for other purposes. Open: Tuesday through Sunday and shopping Sunday 13.00 – 16.00

Sint Gertrudiskerk
Church with a chequered history. Climb the 183 steps of the tower and enjoy a beautiful view.
Open: May through October: Tuesday through Sunday 10.00 – 16.30 November through April: Saturday and Sunday 13.00 – 16.30.

Ravelijn op den Zoom
18th century fortification by the famous architect Menno van Coehoorn with arched roofs, casemates, a vantage point and a floating bridge. Open: check www.vvvbrabantsewal.nl

De Grebbe
Former city sewer
The Grebbe, the former city sewer from the 12th century in the city centre of Bergen op Zoom, can be explored under supervision of a tour guide. Reservations through www.vvvbrabantsewal.nl.

The Inner Scheldt
The Inner Scheldt is a leisure lake on the edge of residential area de Bergse Plaat which offers possibilities for swimming, canoeing and wind surfing. It features a beach area with various facilities and jetties. It is also a highly valued location for kite surfers. Around the Binnenschelde, you will find a trail along the water of about 7 kilometers. You can also ride this trail by bike.

Klimbos Brabantse Wal (treetop adventure park)
Bergen op Zoom is home to Klimbos Brabantse Wal, one of the treetop adventure parks belonging to Klimbos Nederland. You’ll have an amazing adventure, traversing challenging bridges and nets, sturdy lianas and crazy zip-lines, right in the heart of the countryside. The Treetop Adventure Park has no less than 8 different routes and around 100 different courses criss-crossing the beautiful woodlands. Each route has its own height and level of difficulty, making them suitable for young and old alike. This action-packed day out is ideal for families, stag and hen parties or children’s parties.
